NOCHP has a dedicated team of specialty trained pediatric and mental health care providers that work to provide compassionate and comprehensive care to underserved communities in the Greater New Orleans area. The program began operations only two weeks after Hurricane Katrina and has expanded and evolved to meet the changing needs of the community. This program currently provides free mental health care including child psychiatry, social services including insurance enrollment, shelter/food assistance, health education, and direct medical care with after hours care and an On-Call pediatrician 24/7. All services are offered in Spanish with a direct Spanish line to book appointments, a Spanish interpreter for medical services, and a Spanish speaking licensed counselor to provide mental health services. The program is a partnership between Children’s Health Fund and Tulane University School of Medicine’s Department of Pediatrics.
